I’ve already written an article about the wonder that is Count Gauntly’s, Earn This contributor and dear friend Brian’s public access television show (on FPA 10). But, since then, I’ve appeared in THREE different episodes.
So if I’m ranking real-life pieces of art and media and such that have distinct personal meaning, then Brian’s show is definitely up there.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve tuned in, here are the basics: Brian, as the undead Count Gauntly, plays the role of a “horror host,” airing movies and clips that have lapsed into the public domain. The clips and movies are interspersed with short scenes or skits involving Count Gauntly and his crypt.
The movies and clips featured are often delightfully bad, but the real treat is Brian’s effervescent performance as Count Gauntly, along with the stable of side characters — especially the Igor-esque minion Ogrot played by Brian’s friend Ben. (Let’s not forget the pretentious “critic” played by a certain Earn This editor, either.)
Best of all, Brian has started airing the episodes on YouTube, so it is yours to watch whenever you’d like. Let us rejoice about that and take another swig of soup beer as we enjoy Count Gauntly’s Horrors from the Public Domain.
