One question and one comment. What brought you to the conclusion that Best Friend is about Hoopes and Thiessen? And Thiessen has said in an interview that Which To Bury is not about a girl. Just wanted to throw that out there.

“You’ll Always Be My Best Friend” is co-written by Hoopes and Thiessen, and as far as I know the only song on which Hoopes has a writing credit: http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-bird-and-the-bee-sides-mw0000791900
As for “Which to Bury” — I’d love to see whatever interview or quote you’re talking about. I always love learning more about the backstory of their songs. I know Thiessen was going through a breakup around the time of MMMHMM, and the lyrics fit, so I assumed that explained that song’s lyrics.
